Tsukiji's mainly regular Japanese clientele speaks volume of its solid reputation and authenticity. Once inside, you feel transported into a backstreet Tokyo establishment, so welcoming but not intimidating like other Japanese restaurants. Its fine Japanese cuisine is faultless, with consistently topgrade fresh ingredients.
Nothing warms the stomach better than a bowl of beef ramen (to share if you find it too filling) with its flavourful, full-bodied broth and bouncy-to-the-bite noodles. Once you are warmed up, a platter of tokujo nigiri premium sushi is in order, a very fresh and clean-tasting nine-piece assortment of imported seafood and three-piece maki. Follow it up with a wonderfully grilled Japanese mackerel or a gindara saikyo, miso-marinated black cod fillet. The dinner’s highlight is the grilled intensely marbled Ohmi Wagyu rib-eye steak, exceptionally butter-tender with unsurpassed flavour and taste. It is served with sautéed vegetables and a special dipping sauce. The Ohmi Wagyu is also offered as sukiyaki, shabu-shabu, teppanyaki, or yakiniku. Cap your meal with the refreshing home-made green tea and red mung bean ice cream.
